Thousands Rally for Peace in the Wake of Community Violence
LOS ANGELES, April 6, 2019 -- An audience of 6,000 people filled City of Refuge megachurch in Gardena, CA on April 6 for the Peace Starts With Me rally. This was a call to promote peace in a local community rocked by violence and a nation that has become increasingly divided. A special donation was made on behalf of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon to Nipsey Hussle and three local charities.
Dr. Moon, co-founder of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), shared how God blessed America through Christianity, and now the quarter billion Christians in the U.S. have a responsibility to share those blessings with the rest of the world as united families.
Megachurch pastor Bishop Noel Jones gave a message of hope in bringing people together from all faiths and backgrounds. A 500-voice choir and performance by Grammy award-winning gospel artist Hezekiah Walker brought the crowd to their feet in praise and worship.
The rally was a joint project of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) and FFWPU. See the Getty Images from the event here.
