A diverse cadre of respected religious thinkers has pledged to create “a world of lasting peace” after a landmark three-day conference in New York. Under the banner of “Overcoming Division, Building Unity,” close to 300 clergy and religious lawmakers from 28 nations convened on Veterans Day weekend at the iconic New Yorker Hotel to mull paths to reconciliation.

In observance of the International Day of Peace promoted by the United Nations, the local chapter of Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Elizabeth called together leaders to pray for peace. On September 22, the event was attended by more than 20 people and was co-sponsored by the Elizabeth chapters of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) and the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP).
