Liz Black Live Coat Drive for Peace
NEWARK, Dec. 16, 2019 -- Liz Black Live sat down with Rev. Demian Dunkley, President of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), at her annual coat drive on December 16, 2019 to talk about the Peace Starts With Me volunteers and the Peace Starts With Me rally at Prudential Center on December 28, 2019.
Liz Black: The fact that when I said I needed help, and you said, "Whatever you need," that to me spoke volumes. Because people don't put their money where their mouth is. They say they want to work in love. They say they want to have unity, but you actually show it. And I want to commend you and say thank you because I've known you, what is it two years?
Demian Dunkley: Yeah, yeah.
Liz Black: You have been consistent throughout the whole two years.
Demian Dunkley: It's a blessing. You know how busy churches are looking for things for their youth to do. We've got to tap into this. There's churches everywhere looking for ways to engage their youth in a way that's meaningful. And often I've noticed that when they're asked to serve their own church they sometimes feel it's sort of inhouse and wonder what it's all for, but if you take them out for one event like this it gives them new life. It's a blessing to show up here and help you. It's a blessing to us.
Liz Black: Your youth are here. It's a blessing.
Demian Dunkley: We got some folks from LA here today.
Liz Black: Do you?
Demian Dunkley: Yeah, I see two or three from our team from LA.
Liz Black: Well I'm glad to have them.
Demian Dunkley: They don't even need coats in LA.
Liz Black: No they don't.
Demian Dunkley: So that's a blessing for them.
Liz Black: And help others get coats. They have their Peace Starts With Me vests.
Demian Dunkley: Yep. Look at them. They got their uniforms on. They look like construction workers.
Liz Black: We're glad to have you. December 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Get there at 2:00 or 2:30 because you want to catch the pre show.
Demian Dunkley: The pre show is going to be great, hosted by the very own Liz Black.
Liz Black: I'm going to be there.
